In the week that saw Helen Mirren crowned the world’s sexiest woman, new research has revealed that the older generations are now experiencing better sex. The 69-year-old recently divulged that she has a wonderful sex life, and it seems she’s not the only one refusing to slow down anytime soon. She joins a plethora of oldsters, including the likes of Mick Jagger, Michael Douglas and Jane Fonda, all of whom aren’t shy in explaining that sex does improve with age. A new survey has taken a closer look under the covers to reveal that it really is the 55s and over who are having all the fun.
– 85 per cent of men and woman aged 55-plus were either ‘satisfied’ or ‘extremely satisfied’ with their current sex lives – significantly higher than any other age group
– 55-plus year-olds are more confident (50%) talking to their partners about what they want in the bedroom than 18-30-year-olds (15%)
– One in four over-55s have improved their sex lives with the introduction of sex toys and role play
– One in five over-55s would choose a naughty weekend away over a relaxing holiday with their partner.
Hot Octopuss has also been found to help boost confidence for those among the older generations suffering from anxiety and/or affected by sexual issues such as erectile dysfunction.
The survey has been conducted in conjunction with the brand’s recent ‘Sex Not Stigma’ conversation – an invitation to the global population to talk more honestly and openly about sex.
Adam Lewis, Hot Octopuss co-founder and designer of PULSE, said: “Since the launch of our original PULSE toy back in 2013, we’ve seen a continued increase in demand from the older market and I can’t see that changing any time soon. It comes as no surprise to me that the older generation are getting their rocks off at the tender age of 70 – so they should be!
“We’re selling more of our products to the over 55s than ever before. Aiming to keep customers needs and wants in mind, all of our products are designed based on medical research. Our collection can provide a welcome solution for men and couples suffering with the likes of erectile dysfunction, which is actually far more common than you think, especially amongst the older generation.”
